Sweating It
By Kuono • Jan 21st, 2008 • Category: BlogAfter reading Red’s post “Mood Creams Shmood Creams“, I was thinking about how focused our society is on the troubles of our sex lives, and the “quick fixes” we think will be the answer. I think there’s more to sex than that. Whatever happened to listening to our own bodies? Our bits and pieces are all part of our entire working body — and when we have sex, those other body parts don’t disappear. Our complete body and mind are involved in sex – so often we forget!
What gets you off? What turns you on? With so much consumer attention on our faults — low libido, lack of sex drive, sexual dysfunction, it starts to look like the only solution is to pop a pill (with lousy side-effects) or smear a cream and hope for the best.
A friend of mine was experiencing a low libido recently. A number of things can contribute to this… stress at work, a death in the family, getting sick, etc… After some time to herself and a trip to the gym, she was back in the saddle and feeling hotter than ever. No magic pill can take the place of some good old self-esteem and healthy exercise.
I’m a big fan of working out. Why? Because it has great sexual advantage! Besides helping the cadiovascular system (and respiratory system, and a million of trickle down effects from the body’s natural cycle), there are a lot of mental benefits and scientific studies to support the claim that working out puts people in a good mood.
Depending on what you do to get your body going, be it dancing or yoga or throwing the ball around, getting together with a co-worker for a lunch time walk, or joining a basketball or swim team… all these activities can benefit your sex life. They’ll give you stamina, add strength in muscles to your performance, maybe even some increased flexibility for fun positions.
Lack of libido get you down? Get outdoors and walk it off.
Loving my new gym membership,
