So, just what is “erotic art” anyway? That’s a very Betty-kind-of question to ask.

Why do I care? Now ISO (in search of . . . y-e-a-h . . . (I’m practicing saying “y-e-a-h” like Timberland, says on SexyBack) outstanding erotic art to show at the Good Vibes store on Polk Street.

Having now visited all three of the Bay Area GV stores (East Bay, Valencia and Polk) and discovered that each has it’s own specialness. Don’t we all? But, did you know that GV has yet another store near Boston near a place called Brookline? How’s that for specialness?

Polk Street GV has a back room. No, not one of those kinds of back rooms. This one is actually a very nice space for meetings, receptions, workshops and more. I do like it.

GV prez/CEO Theresa Sparks was telling me about Evert Grobbelaar. She said that he’s a hairdresser, and he is also an accomplished artist . . . with a following. That means he has fans. I’m one too, now.

Friday evening a week or so ago found me wandering in GV Polk, just looking around at all the interesting stuff on the walls . . . the dildos, the vibrators . . . yes, those are expected . . . But, there’s more. It still amazes me, the variety of items one can find at these clean, well-lighted GV locations, where anyone can feel safe and welcome.

In the back room, I discovered not only the lovely space, but a mounted and framed exhibit of Evert’s images designed to wow! Make that “Wow-w-w-w-w!” since that’s exactly what they did.

Carole Queen was there with Robert. Colleague-down-the-hall was there with his special guy in tow. Theresa was there in all her glory, and she introduced me to lots of folks. GV’s Barbie Garcilaso de la Vega had beverages and snacks available. Grace and Mary Ann, leaders of the Betty’s List posse, came too, as did lots of other folks of all persuasions whom I’ve never met before. It was, to say the very least, a nice evening on a date night in a lovely space I plan to visit more.

So, we’re looking for more outstanding artists whose erotic art is excellent, interesting, compelling and all those things that make it wonderful. Know anyone who fits the bill and has a following? Let us know and we just might have another party at Polk. “Party at Polk!” There’s a nice sound to that, with the alliteration and all, don’t you think?

What else begins with a “p” that would add just a bit more . . . pucker? Well, after all, this is April Fool’s Day.
