Does the cone hit the zone?

The Cone

Tis the holiday season around here which means that are gobs of new toys to play with. The first item on my list for Santa was The Cone. Something about its smooth pink latex shape drew me to it. When it popped up on our website a few weeks ago I immediately began surfing the web like mad looking for reviews on this silly yet stimulating new gadget.

The manufacturers site Cone Zone, shared photos of a variety of positions that they felt the cone was useful for. It also has a short comical video of an elderly lady stealing a cone from a party to use herself. While both made me giggle, I still didn’t feel like I had any real idea of how the cone as a sex toy! Being the inquisitive sex educator that I am, I picked up the phone and had a cone reserved for me from that very first batch in stock.

A few days later, my cone arrived. Walking down Howard Street toward my car with a big pink and black cone shaped box left a huge smile on my face as I said hello to passing strangers, well aware that I was carrying a sex toy in plain site and none of them were the least bit suspicious. After a quick stop for batteries and a call to my boyfriend for his expert assistant skills, it was home for Mr. Cone and me.

My boyfriend arrived just in time to watch me pop the batteries in and start pressing buttons at random to see what they do. The cone is fully silicone with the vibrations centered toward the tip of the cone but not exactly on it. The tip is slightly bendy, sort of like the tip of your nose. There are several settings starting with slow, med and high buzzing then moving on to various patterns and strengths. A second button allows a user to skip directly to the last super charged setting. We fiddled with the settings sitting on the couch for a while then turned it off and stared at it, still unsure what we were going to do with it exactly!

Awkwardly we moved to the bed and I placed it down gently right in the middle stroking it gently as I contemplated what to do with it. For some reason it almost felt like the cone needed to be romanced before it could be mounted. Something about it is oddly feminine, perhaps because its shape is less torpedoed like a penis and more rounded and triangular like a vulva, sans vagina! Gently, I lubed the top half of the cone generously and climbed on top, almost giggling as I did so.

The sensation of the cone is not like a traditional vibrator. It is closer to the hum of a sybian than to the back and forth vibrating of a stick vibe. It must be from the uber cool 3000 RPM motor. If you’ve ever played with a Sybian, think of it as a sybian without attachments, just the vibrating base. I found it a bit challenging trying to get it to hit the right spots, but when it did the feeling was fabulous. For couples, it’s a neat doggy style toy but I found that to get it to hit the right angle it needed to be propped up and forward a bit by pillows, and we tended to knock it out of place a lot. The top mode wasn’t my favorite, I’m much more of a straight ahead strong vibe type of girl, but none of the settings were unpleasant. Overall, I find it to be an exciting new toy. We’ve been sitting around trying to come up with new positions and mountings to get it in just the right spot. I’ll keep you posted!
