How to Get Delicious for Holiday Ball
By Allison • Dec 4th, 2006 • Category: BlogWith the Holiday Ball less than 2 weeks away, everyone around GV headquarters has been frantically trying to put the finishing touches on their outrageous Candy-inspired garb and finding inspiration everywhere from beloved children’s movies to candybar wrappers and beyond. While I am merely one firey wig away from completing my ensemble, I know there are plenty of you out there scouring the streets for the perfect Sugar-Coated something to strut for the December 14th affair. While doing some shopping in Berkeley over the weekend and trying to help a friend put her outfit together, it became clear that maybe people needed some extra direction in figuring out what kind of outfit to create. Afterall, candy is pretty general, and with tons of options comes tons of indecision. If you’re feeling stuck for ideas (and not the delicious taffy kind of stuck), see if any of the suggestions below get your creative juices flowing:
1. Make a list of your favorite candies and treats- narrowing down your decision to one or two colors, or concepts depending on what kind of candy inspires you can make an outfit come together much quicker than simply trying to find candy-colored underthings, except of course if you very much want to wear candy-colored underthings (no complaints here!).
2. What’s associated with candy?- If Snickers bars just aren’t doing it for you, find yourself in an outfit that reflects your connection to candy, whether that means dressing up as a Candy Seller, a Candy maker, a character from the game CandyLand, a Candy Addict, or even as a Dentist.
3. Don’t be afriad of Puns for inexpensive and clever outfits- Get an army helmet and go as a “Warhead”, Dress up as a prize Fighter and become a “Jawbreaker”, Put on a Cowboy hat and a big Smile and go as a “Jolly Rancher”. I could do this all day, but I think you get the point.
4. More Friends=More Fun- If you have a great idea but think you might need an entourage to pull it off, why not convince some friends to try out a group costume? Getting a few people to dress up as a singular theme can really make your costumes pop. Whether you want to go as the Keebler Elves, a Bag of M&M’s, or a gang of Sweet-Tarts, more can definietly be the merrier at this year’s Holiday Ball.
So start riffling through your closets, raid your favorite lingerie shops, and happy hunting! This year’s Holiday Ball is so sweet is just might leave you with a toothache!
See you there!

I’m looking at bubblegum pink as my outfit color. Somehow I doubt that I’ll be as creatively dressed as some of you artistically gifted seamstresses!
I’m soooo there!
Me and my other elf-ish co-worker will be Go-Go Dancing as devious candy making Ooompa Loompas! Bring your one-dollar bills for our candy machines!
