iPods and Treos and PCs OhMi!

I’m in one of those relationships that can be explained by what technology we own. She has a Mac and I have a PC. When we tell people that, they always seem to nod as if that explains everything about our dynamic. Though I wish somebody would explain it to me.

We both own iPods though I have a Nano and she has a Video iPod. Does that make as much sense as the Mac/PC distinction? I have no idea. All I know is that without her my technology would be sitting in the corner where I would have thrown it at frustration at not being able to turn it on. Or if I manage to turn it on, not being able to turn it off.

You see, technology is something new to me. I had tried to resist it and to stay away from it as much as possible… if possible.

Last Saturday I bought my first new computer since 1993. That first computer was a Mac back when the screen was about 8” and it was an all-in-one model. I haven’t had much need since then since I seemed to stick to office jobs where I could type the occasional email or update my resume when I was ready to leave. But over the last year I have been more and more lured in by all the convenience that you can buy. Like my Treo. My calendar, memo pad, task list, address book, phone are all included AND I can access the internet while on the bus, from my bed or on a street corner (which comes in handy, I tell you). It’s amazing. Before I finally gave in to my own mental demands and bought it I was obsessed. I could think of nothing else. I was slack jawed as bus after bus rode by advertising the latest version. It was all I could talk about at dinner.

I kind of feel the same way about the OhMiBod.

OHMIBOD OHMIBOD

I met with the creators of this amazing vibrator about 8 months ago to discuss their product-in-progress and to offer up any insight I might have. From the moment I saw the OhMiBod I was blown away! I’d seen other iPod/MP3 compatible vibrators before but none with quality and concept that this one did. Not only is the design sleek but the whole process of connect-the-vibrator-to-MP3 player is streamlined! No more connecting the vibrator to the vibe’s battery pack and then to the iPod. With the use of their splitter you just connect your earphones to one side and the vibrator to another – the intensity of the vibe is controlled by the volume of your player. Streamlined! Yeah!

Add to that the fact that the OhMiBod pulses and grooves and bumps when your music does that same. At that first meeting one of the creators held the earphones up to my ears and played some music for me… and from the moment the music came on that smooth vibrator was pulsing and escalating right in time with “My Humps” in a way many people would find quite pleasurable. It was amazing. The vibrator reacted to the rhythm of the music in a way I’d never seen before. And it’s insertable. And it has the capability to be plugged into your home stereo so you can turn it up all-the-way and not damage your eardrums. And you can unscrew the cap and replace it with a manual cap that allows you to use the vibe alone with its variable-speed dial-controlled mechanics.

Need I say more?
