getting and growing.
By jameson • Sep 7th, 2006 • Category: BlogRecent bouts of happiness and their causes:
1. The intro to Stephen Elliot’s new book, My Girlfriend Comes to the City and Beats Me Up made me smile big and deep. He explains that the fiction/literature/memoir? collection of stories are more real than not, and that he takes responsibility for “every sexual act depicted.” His reason for being so honest about the S/M content is simple and glorious: “It is in everyone’s best interest for more people to be open about their sexual desires…As kinky people we need to talk to our nonkinky friends about our desires.”
The part that snagged me?
“We will never have political power until we let the politicians know that we are not ashamed.”
Yes, it’s been said before. But so. It still makes me happy. (and p.s…Elliot will be signing books and stuff in the Valencia st. store on Sep. 25…you should come)
(and p.p.s…..if I made Pervert t-shirts, would you buy them? or maybe canvas totes, to be super lesbionic…..just a thought…)
2. The article in the Chronicle about the tallest living things: big ol’ trees. The article itself made me happy enough, but what I can’t seem to stop thinking about is a tiny bit in the “Record Trees” blurb they included: ” Oldest living tree: Methuselah…estimated 4,650 year’s old”
For some reason this makes me feel like everything’s going to be okay. Odd, I know (I had a similar reaction when I felt my first earthquake)…but think about it. This tree is proof that life happened before you and life will happen after you. Almost depressing, but not, because that means that what is here and now is yours. All yours.
3. Which is another reason why I hold so strong to our semi-but-not-at-all motto of “Sexual Pleasure is Everyone’s Birthright.” This is your time, and your life, and you deserve to be happy and orgasming as much as you please.
4. Totally not connected, but still made me happy: Christen Clifford’s article, Baby Love. (It’s also in this book). Read it, if you haven’t already (I am very behind the times sometimes, you know). She will be performing the play by the same name at the San Francisco Fringe Festival. Buttons will be pushed, I promise you that.
Lastly? I’m happy. Obviously.
enjoy your day.

jameson is a very wholesome looking pervert who is a sex cheerleader by day, super sex cheerleader by night. she majored in women's studies but hates assumed gender differences, loves porn, and was never taught how to think her words are worthless, so obviously she likes to write (and talk and talk and talk, fast).
