A question from an old friend I’ll re-name Judy:
“and on another note, i’ve been meaning to ask you about one of the gv vibes. yes, i entered the land of vibes jameson, and mine that i had for the last two years died. i never took the batteries out–didn’t realize i was supposed to, and it exploded inside (the vibe, not inside me!) with a loud BOOM and leaked battery acid way too close to comfort near my hoo-ha. scary.
anyway, i am looking at the Laya as my replacement, and figured you are the girl to go to to ask about it. so, what have you got to tell me about it–what do you think? will it last? and not blow up if i take care of it right? i had one of those imitation rabbit things and really didn’t care for it too much–i really only ever used the vibrator part and not the penetration part. anyway, thanks in advance for helping me out. “
My advice comes in a few parts:
1. Yes, taking the batteries out can be a pain, especially in that post-orgasmic bliss that shoots some of us off to sleepyland, but do you really want nasty battery acid stuff so close to your “hoo ha”? Didnt’ think so. Learn from Judy. Remove the batteries when not in use!
2. Judy here has done exactly what I reccomend to customers: try out a vibe or two, and pay attention to what you like and what you don’t. Women often come in looking for “The Rabbit. You know, the Rabbit! I was told to get the Rabbit!” I hate to break it to Cosmo and Cake, but not all women are going to like the Rabbit. Judy didn’t. I didn’t. With my super store discount, I bought myself a super fancy rabbit vibe and tried it almost the instant I had an ounce of privacy. It didn’t work for me. So I tried it again. Nothing. And again. “I must not be doing this right. There’s got to be something I’m missing.” So I tried for the last time. The internal swivel part did nothing for me, or for Judy, but it could do everything for you. Try it, and see for yourself. Like Lavar Burton would say in Reading Rainbow, “Don’t take my word for it!”
3. Now, for the Laya. I love this vibe. Love it. So pretty. So discreet. So quiet, and strong, and adjustable. Made by a company that doesn’t just spit out millions upon millions of sex toys. The Laya rocks. Personally, I was a tad skeptical (as I am with most things in life, within my store and outside). But then it won me over.
The Laya covers more area than standard tiny vibes, and yet isn’t too big to be very much in the way if you’re using it with a partner. It’s easy to hold. And, almost most importantly, you can use it one-handed. So, if (like many of us) you need a free hand to flip the page or push the fast-forward button, you won’t be disappointed. Oh, and there are also pulsation settings. These are good for when you don’t quite want to come just yet but don’t want to put the vibe down, either.
“will it blow up if I take care of it?” No, it shouldn’t. The Laya is made by Fun Factory, a company in Germany that takes pride in their toys. They do a lot of our silicone vibes, and they’re awesome. Their stuff is sturdier than most. However, the whole take-the-batteries-out thing is especially important with this vibe. For some reason it drains the batteries faster than others…you could put it into your nightstand on monday, and then on wednesday have no more vibe-juice, unless you take the batteries out (or, at the very least, unscrew the cap to break the connection).
Overall, I reccomend this toy to anyone who wants an external-only, adjustable, long-lasting, discreet, quiet, and attractive vibe. So Judy, get it!
That was fun.

I dont like that toy at all. Its not nearly strong enough and is too wide so it doesnt jive on my clit it just kind of vibrates my lips and the buttons are really hard to push. One of them keeps getting stuck and im constantly fixing it. It also goes through batteries way to quick. I don’t like the rabbit that you carry all that much either. The twisting doesnt do it for me. I have another rabbit that I found elsewhere that I do enjoy though.
Thank you so much for this post! Several years ago I tried the rabbit & had the same reaction you & “Judy” did: ho hum. I thought surely there was something wrong with me that the famous rabbit left me yawning & unimpressed, so it’s good to hear that I’m not the only one.
I love the Laya! When I first tried it, I was sceptical: it’s so small! Surely it can’t pack a big punch! Well, I was wrong. I love the fact that it’s discreet, easy to hold, and it doesn’t look like a sex toy the way a huge dildo does.
I can understand Dana’s point, though: one size doesn’t fit all, so you have to keep trying until you find something that works. And just because something doesn’t turn your crank doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you: you just haven’t found a compatible fit.
I got a Laya not that long ago and I love it so much. It’s so easy to clean, and that’s when I remember to take the batteries out too, because the manufacturer recommends opening the battery case after cleaning to dry out any moisture that might have gotten in.
There’s only two issues, first, it’s distracting to back it down off the patterned vibes because once you get off the patterns it goes back to the highest vibe level. When you’re trying to cool off before coming that’s a little bit of a problem. The other thing is that there’s no texture to it. I would kind of like a jelly sleeve to slip over mine to add a little ribbing or tickler to the party.
Oh, best thing about it, you can claim it’s for sore shoulders. Works amazingly well in that capacity too!
