It’s Tuesday and I am still recovering from this weekend. I think that LGBT Pride weekend should be acknowledged as a national holiday and be at least a four day weekend. Do you really expect any member of the queer spectrum to be functioning properly after three days of gayly celebrating?
While I continue to attempt some level of functionality, let me recap some of the events of this last weekend…
Now usually Pride is a month long celebration for me since I live in the “Gay Capital of the World,” S.F. The week prior to the official celebration is kicked off with the National Queer Arts Festival and Frameline Film Festival. I tell you there just isn’t enough time to get to everything. You would have to have the stamina of a circuit boy to keep up with it all and there just isn’t that amount of Crisco in the city to keep all the queers gliding that smoothly. Anyhow, I was able to catch one film screening and perform in one of the NQAF events, which ain’t so bad especially since it involved a kiddie pool filled with milk, four naked people and other bodily fluids.
Usually by the time Pride weekend hits, I am all gayed out and need a nap. This year I tried to pace myself so I could at least attend a couple of the events. Last year was a little less sucessful. Going out 6 nights in a row, averaging about 3 hours a sleep a night and being rather friendly with an average of 3 different people a day really takes it out of a person. This year I just tried to stick to 2-3 parties a day. Perhaps it’s my age catching up with me, but it didn’t seem any easier, however I do feel slighly more functional…
Okay, back to the recap. Let’s start with Friday. After an average day at work, I hit the TransMarch to meet up with other coworkers. It was great to see that the turnout pretty much doubled from last year. In typical fashion, these things usually never start on time, so by the time the march actually reached it’s final destination, numbers had dwindled. Marching and drinking can take a lot out of a person, so it never hurts to refuel on some food before you move on to the next event. Then it was off to the next after party hosted by one of the local queer friendly kink porn companies. Open bar and a hot tub filled with pornstars, there really isn’t more you could ask for. One of the pro-doms was gracious enough to beat my ass behind the open bar with a very nice leather flogger. This was combined with some bare hand spanking and face slapping. We must hang out again sometime. After this, a quick drip in the hot tub was in order where everyone stripped off their clothes. There was some fun making out with the incredibly sweet and intelligent Madison Young, boundage super star, and then off to the next event.
Well, hot tubbing, spanking and drinking do really wear a person out and by the time we all reached the local queer club I was a bit spent. My cohort and I decided it was time to head home and asked a friend if they’d like to join us. Unfortunately driving responsibilities prevented such. Oh well, perhaps next time.
After five hours of sleep we were ready to hit the streets again. God bless Dyke March Saturday! We met up with Shine Louise Houston of Pink and White Productions, markers of the The Crash Pad and the new stars of her upcoming film Superfreak. These girls know how to party especially if it involves wrestling naked in a pool of champange. Once the champange had run out and the fog rolled in, it was time to pack up and rinse off. My cohort and I headed back to the house to find a shower. A tip on picking up a sweet thing at the March: the less clothes the better, but being covered in champagne and grass stains tends to intimidate some people. After rinsing off and finding more comfortable surroundings, we ended up not leaving the house. Sometimes the most entertaining activities can be found in your very home!
On closing, I had a fabulous weekend. After speaking with several friends, the general school of thought was that if you plan on doing S.F. Pride right, don’t forget the Good Lubrications Gel and some silicone lube.

when you say, “Sometimes the most entertaining activities can be found in your very home!” are you referring to Cranium or Scrabble?
